The MCDA PSAP Management training series continues in 2019!

Dates: January 30-January 31, 2019 (MCDA meeting on Feb. 1st)
Time: 8- 5pm
Where: Grand Rapids Police Department, 1 Monroe Center St NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503
Cost: $450 for both days, or $275 for one day. Lunch is included each day.
Day 1: SNC Approved MCDA 201812A (8 hours)
This day will cover a wide range of topics including a presentation from the state fire marshal, state 911 office, national weather service, and PFN. The day will also include sessions on quality assurance and a legislative update. Jim Marshall will present for a two-hour session where all attendees will receive a copy of “The Resilient 9-1-1 Professional.”
Day 2: SNC Approved MCDA 201812B (8 hours)
DeWolf and Associates will present a one-day seminar on discipline. Topics to be covered include the purpose of discipline, “due process,” progressive discipline, and discipline investigation and interviews. Attendees walk away with expanded knowledge of the following topics:
- The need for establishing and enforcing policies
- Making rules and regulations acceptable and workable
- Positive and negative discipline
- The “Just Cause” checklist
- The disciplinary interview with the employee or witness
- Weingarten Rights (NLRB v Weingarten)
- The Garrity Rule (Garrity v New Jersey)
- Michigan Public Act 563 or 2006
- Common disciplinary problems
*Attendance at previous MCDA training is not required to attend. The topics and presentations will be different in this training.
